Introduction
Problems that arise in childhood can include: academic underachievement,
problems getting along with others, deficits in attention, emotional or
neurological problems, and problems of behavior and conduct. The problems
may be related to neurological deficits, specific learning disability,
emotional adjustment issues, or ADHD. The specialists at CCR have expertise
in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood disorders.
Assessment
Evaluation
of childhood disorders begins with a thorough medical, developmental,
and social history followed by administration of selected diagnostic instruments.
We identify a child's underlying strengths and weaknesses and distinguish
the often subtle differences between childhood disorders in order to arrive
at an accurate diagnosis. Effective assessment and intervention can make
a real difference in the lives of your child and family.
Treatment
Once
the appropriate diagnosis is made, an individualized treatment plan is
created. This treatment plan utilizes a child's individual strengths along
with implementation of specific strategies that focus on facilitating
school success and improving a child's overall functioning.
Family
therapy is also offered in order to enhance family dynamics and improve
family functioning. A major emphasis of our intervention is the promotion
of successful functioning at home and school.
